What’s happening?
Baptism is a beautiful act of faith and obedience to Jesus Christ. It is not merely a tradition, but a command given by the Lord to all who believe in Him. It is a sign of acceptance that Jesus Christ is your Lord. When a person is baptized, it means leaving behind the old life of sin and beginning a new life in Christ.
The Bible says, “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:4).
Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:16–17), setting an example for us to follow. On the day of Pentecost, the first believers who accepted the gospel were immediately baptized (Acts 2:41). In baptism, we identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, and publicly declare that we belong to Him.
It is an outward sign of an inward change— a cleansing process for us to receive the promised gift that is the Holy Spirit, a testimony that we have been washed, renewed, and made alive in Christ. Baptism is not the end of the journey but the beginning of a life committed to following Jesus. A life that is about being blessed with all the spiritual gifts and especially having a closer relationship with God. Baptism at TMOOC is not just a small event but a celebration as people are being added to God’s Kingdom.
